Who are YPAG?

The Young People’s Advisory Group (or YPAG as they are known) is a group of young people aged between 11 and 23 years old from around the Merthyr Tydfil area who actively promotes children and young people’s participation in the decision-making process.

YPAG’s main aim is to engage and empower children and young people in the Merthyr Tydfil Borough. To provide an opportunity for children and young people to express their views and make decisions that affect them.

YPAG are responsible for the administration of the Initiative, considering, approving and not approving requests for funding and evaluating projects / activities after completion.

Name: Daniel Thomas
Age: 16 Years
I like doing athletics and other sports, I enjoy using computers, socialising and having fun.


Name: Gerwyn Morris
Age: 12 Years
I like to help other people. I like sports like football, rugby and cricket.


Name: Kate Downs
Age: 15 Years
I like to dance for Trinity and I also enjoy meeting new people and being part of the Youth Forum, Time-Banking and YPAG.


Name: Cara John
Age: 15 Years
I like to help other people, I enjoy finding out different things that are going on in my community and I am very interested in knowing what is happening globally. I love Art, I am a very creative person. One day I would like to become a hairdresser as I like creating new hair styles. I also like socialising with friends.

Age: 14 Years
Hiyaaaah… my name is Chelsea and I live in Merthyr Tydfil and represent the Activities for Young People. I joined YPAG and the AYP Group because Isi asked me too! I enjoy being part of this group because I meet new people and get lots of opportunities for things. I have been a member for a while.

Age: 14 Years
Hi, my name is Sam and I’m 14 years old. I live in Swansea Road and I represent YPAG. I joined YPAG and the AYP Group becase its fun! I enjoy being part of this group because it’s a laugh! I have been a member for too long (ha! Ha! Ha!).
